Carol, Laurie Detweiler of Veritas Press responded to this very question along these lines: that one might consider using SG for a year before doing IEW, but that eventually you would want to lead into IEW's writing because SG's was "limited"....I understood her to mean that SG's writing ended up sounding too mechanical after awhile...a good place to start but that we would want to go "further". She also said that these two programs go very well together.
