> Is anyone familiar with Trivium Pursuit's "Homeschool Greek"? I believe it's a new program, and it sounds very appealing. My two oldest sons (ages 10 and 7) have already worked through the relatively simple first two levels of Karen Mohs' "Hey Andrew, Teach Me Some Greek" books, and I'm wondering if/when to switch over. Ok, I have both set ups, (I have all the Hey Andrew books, and my 8 year old is on level 3, we skipped level 2). My older kids worked through/working through the Bluedorn materials. The Bluedorn materials are EXCELLENT! The Hey Andrew series is great for the younger crowd, but once a child is firmly established in reading you might find the Bluedorn Volumns more enjoyable, interesting, and effective. The first 17 chapters teach ENGLISH Grammar, and are worth it just for the Grammar. No where have I read a more thorough discussion of English Grammar that a) included older English forms and b)was written such that a 10 year old could understand it. It depends on your 10 year old's maturity. Nothing wrong with starting it slightly later and continuing with the Hey Andrew Level 3 & 4. Both are good programs, I just really like the Bluedorn framework MUCH MUCH better! |
